General Election Information
Board members are elected for three-year terms.
If a Trustee vacates his/her position prior to the end of the term, the opening for the unexpired term will be filled either by appointment by the Board of Trustees or by Special Election. The seat will then be subject to the regular election cycle.
Board of Trustee Elections for Alpine ISD are held annually, in May, on a three-year rotation cycle.
Election for Single Member District Board of Trustee # 2 and # 6 will be held in 2020, and every third year, thereafter.
Election for Single Member District Board of Trustee # 1, # 3, and #4 will be held in 2021, and every third year, thereafter.
Election for Single Member District Board of Trustee # 5 and # 7 will be held in 2022, and every third year, thereafter.
The next election will be held on May, 2, 2020. State law requires that school districts hold their elections, jointly, with another entity. Therefore, the Alpine ISD Board of Trustee elections are held jointly with the City of Alpine, and are conducted in the Alpine City Hall Council Chambers at 803 W. Holland Avenue, Alpine, Texas.
The candidate filing period to file an application for a place on the May 2020 ballot is Wednesday, January 15, 2020 through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020.
All applications filed are publlic records and open to inspection upon request.
