In order to be nominated for NJHS, a student must have an overall 90 average in the following core subjects: English, history, math, science, reading, and no grade lower than an 80 in any subject. In addition, a student may have no grade lower than a 90 in conduct in any six weeks grading period. Students must also receive a score of 15 or higher out of a possible 20 points on a teacher evaluation, which covers citizenship, service, leadership, and character. Any student sent to the office for disciplinary action will not be eligible for admission or retention in the organization. Once inducted, a student must maintain a grade of 85 or higher except in Algebra where an 80 must be maintained. Students must also maintain a 90 average in conduct in all courses of each six weeks. If the student does not fulfill their requirements, he or she may be placed on probation or removed from the organization.
