EARTH DAY Mrs. Crim’s and Mrs. Sharron’s classes celebrated Earth Day by beautifying the AMS Campus
Great success of Alpine Middle School Band
Alpine Middle School 6th and 7th grade bands competed at the Wink contest festival on April 5th. Both bands received a rating of excellent.
AMS Boys and Girls Track Teams earned 2nd Place at the Wink Track Meet, March 30.
Angelina Ramsdale, AMS 7th grader is at the State Science Fair. She will showcase her project Saturday.
AMS Girls take 1st place at the Van Horn Track Meet.
2017 History Fair
This year Thirteen AMS students participated in the Regional History Fair held at Sul Ross State University. Sixth graders are Zane Billings, Carly Fallon and Lauren Rogers. Eighth graders are Italia Anaya, Sydney Anderson, Danni Akers, Blake Billings, Brady Crump, Grayson Glidewell, Dminique Mucharraz, Omar Reyes, Dallee Sullivan and Amelia Zimmer. Going to state competetion from the eighth grade are: group documentary Indira Gandhi and the Green Revolution by Danni Akers and Italia Anaya, Pope vs Hitler by Blake Billings, Brady Crump,Grayson Glidewell, and Omar Reyes; Individual Website – The Limping Lady Spy by Sydney Anderson; Group Website – Margaret Fuller by Dominique Mucharraz and Amelia Zimmer; receiving a special award for her exhibit was La Resistance by Dalee Sullivan. Sixth graders headed to state are Zane Bilings, Carly Fallon and Lauren Rogers for their 1st place junior group exhibit and Jr.Best in Show – Das Grob Oskar Schindler.
8th Grade Band- As a members of the High school band 8th grade band students recieved 1 division in UIL competition.
Regional Science Fair:Angelina Ramsdale place 3rd at regional competition and will be advancing to the state science fair.
Sanderson Track Meet – AMS Boys & Girls Purple Teams placed 1st and the AMS Boys & Girls Gold Teams placed 6th.
The Library Creative Contest this time was to create a Comic Strip. The 5th grade had a total of 27 entries and the winners are: 1st place Brodie Hale, 2nd Alyssa Nanez, 3rd Adayna Garcia, 4th Matthew Solis and 5th Hannah Juett. Seventh grade winners are, 1st Angelina Fox and 2nd place Reigh Salcido.
The 5th Grade Science class created Solar Ovens to model solar energy as a resource for people to use in cooking food.
Turbines to model wind and water energy as resources for electricity generation:
These models brought awareness to our students about a simple idea and construction could help us continue to generate electricity and lessen our dependence on finishing fossil fuels. They are clean energies and renewable making them the perfect choice to satisfy our energy needs
AMS 8th grader, Justyce Foley participated in the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest Saturday, Feb 4th in Monahans. She competed with the trumpet and will be advancing to state contest along with 16 other Alpine ISD students.
7th Grade Honors Science Class Projects

Design Contest MS students participated in a design contest. The two categories were: creative design of your choice and/or creative design of your name. winners were: 5th grade design – 1st Valeria Crespo, 2nd Santi Alvidrez,
3rd Alejandro Hernandez, Creative Name – 1st Zoe Arredondo, 2nd Carolina Mucharraz and 3rd Jobre Evans. 6th Grade Design – 1st Carly Fallon, 2nd Omar Villa, 3rd Cody Morris, Creative Name 1st Madison Mendoza, 2nd Oscar Velasquez, and 3rd Raul Vega. 7th Grade Design – 1st Angelique Fox, 2nd Ysavel Munoz, 3rd Kylie Garcia and Creative Name – 1st Ysavel Munoz, 2nd Kylie Garcia. 8th Grade Design – 1st Ashton Skidgell, 2nd Raven Morvant, 3rd Alexa Gonzales and Creative Name – 1st Simon Valdez, 2nd Skye Valenzuela and 3rd Raven Morvant.
AMS 8th grader Cassie Gutierrez won 1st place in the Rock Dog (Women’s) 10K race during the Big Bend Ultra held at Big Bend State Park. This race was held Saturday, Jan. 14.
Garden Work Day
Thursday, Jan. 12, Mrs. Crim and Mrs. Sharron took their classes tothe Recycling Center to gather
mulch for the AMS student garden. Eight students participated. The class returned with a recycling bucket for aluminum and one for water bottles. Both buckets will be in the cafeteria for easy usage.
Middle School All Region Band Clinic
AMS Band Students participated in a band clinic in Crane on
Jan. 13th & 14th. Other schools participating were Crane, Kermit, Trinity, Presidio and Irran. On Friday they participated in a six hour practice clinic, Saturday, a two hour practice and then an all school band concert conducted by D. Anderson. Students attending were: 8th graders Riley Arndt-trombone, Blake Bilings – trumpet, Justyce Foley – trumpet, Esteban Gerena – French Horn, Brandon Rice – Trumpet, Robert Sanchez – Trombone and 7th grader Michael Esparza – baritone. Listen to one of their songs.
AMS 8th Grade Students Compete @ All Region
Almost 600 students participated in the All Region Band auditions this year. The region is much bigger this year with the addition of Abilene and San Angelo areas. This is the largest number of students Alpine has had audition for All Region Band since the mid-90's, and we had great results. Congratulations to everyone who auditioned.
On Dec. 1, the AMS Robotics Team competed in Odessa in an area practice meet. There were 47 teams competing and AMS fared well.

AMS Bucks XC Teams Compete
In the District XC meet Oct. 17, the AMS Boys Earned third Place and Cassandra Gutierrez won 1st place in the girl's race. Runners placing in the top 10 were D'Angelo Gonzales, Griffin Carlin and Pruitt Urbanczyk. Other runners were Kylie Penders,
Lauren Penders Kylie Garcia, Serenity Reed, Isabella Hinojos, Madeline Haas, Italia Anaya, Frankie Ontiveros, Rhys Butler, Brandon Rice and Kian Ruiz. Congratulations AMS Bucks!
